About the Team:  
The role is part of WaterAid UK's Programme Funding and Partnerships (PFP) Team in the International Programmes Department. The PFP team contributes to WaterAid's mission by cultivating and securing income from institutional and non-institutional partners for all of WaterAid's programmes globally. The PFP team supports the effective design and delivery of restricted funded programmes, with a special focus on strategic, high value and/or complex opportunities. The Business Development Team (where this role is located) drive forward donor and partner engagement to maximise the strategic funding opportunities for WaterAid Programmes.

About the role: 
The overall purpose of this role is to optimise funding from UK Government and Key European donors, through evolving and implementing a strategy for business development in line with the International Programmes' Dept's Restricted Funding Strategy. This will focus on ensuring WaterAid is well positioned for sustainable WASH programming.  
As our ambitious and engaging Senior Partnerships Manager, you will drive a targeted networking and influencing approach and lead internal coordination to leverage our engagement successfully and optimise funding opportunities. You will provide the organisation with high level donor analysis and provide donor deep dives to help inform a range of internal audiences.  

In this role, you will:

  • Lead, develop and implement a strategy for increasing resource mobilisation for WaterAid’s international programmes from the UK Government and prioritised European donors 
  • Build partnerships with suppliers and partners and provide an analysis of the landscape of different key suppliers for different donors  
  • Provide effective internal coordination to best leverage WaterAid’s contacts and skills with these donors 
  • Build, maintain and track global relationships with donors (as well as cultivating and facilitating ‘in-country’ relationships with country/regional level offices);  
  • Ensure a strong pipeline of funding opportunities across WaterAid’s country programmes from UK govt. and EU donors;  
  • Provide WaterAid staff/programmes with up-to-date intelligence on highlighted donors, its key funding partners and funding opportunities.  


About You:   

  • Substantial experience and knowledge of the institutional funding space, specifically UK government and a range of EU donors, with a deep understanding of these donors' routes to market 
  • Substantial and successful experience/track record in business development work, proactive donor engagement, relationship and partnership building  
  • Strong stakeholder management, communication and coordination skills at all levels internally and externally; 
  • Ability to combine strategic thinking with operational delivery; 
  • Strategic networker with the ability to identify and transform opportunities into tangible results 
  • Ability to work under own initiative 
  • Ability to travel in order to attend external events and meetings in the UK and across Europe, and to occasionally visit WAUK regional and country offices  
  • Experience managing consultants 
  • Strong written and spoken French and or German an asset (Desirable).

Salary & Benefits: Salaries and benefits for different countries will vary in line with the location of the successful candidate and depending on experience. See further details below: 

Role-based in:  
United Kingdom (London, Hybrid), Salary band £53,065 - £55,718 per annum depending on experience with excellent benefits 
Brussels, Belgium: Attractive offer similar to the United Kingdom. Salary Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, job level, internal equity, and budget 

Hybrid Working: UK location only - A minimum of 40% of working time is spent face to face, either in the London office or as a result of external engagement or travel for WaterAid. WaterAid is located at Canary Wharf, London and this will be your location and contract base for candidates based in the United Kingdom.
